Anna is Professor Emerita at Edinburgh Napier University, she is involved in a range of tourism management related activities – researching, supervising, engaging with industry, knowledge exchange and informing policy and business practice. Previously, Anna was Professor of Tourism Management at the same university. Her teaching and research interests are principally in international visitor attraction management, heritage tourism and destination management.

A graduate of the University of Aberdeen (Geography), University of Strathclyde (Tourism) and Leeds Beckett University (PhD), she has always been interested in the role of heritage within communities, the conversion of historic buildings and the management of heritage destinations. Over her three decades at Napier she has contributed to the development of undergraduate, postgraduate and commercial short courses.

As Lead for the Tourism Research Centre, her role involves working collaboratively across universities and the tourism sector to develop research, short courses and consultancy to support sustainable tourism development. She is a member of the Heritage Opportunities Panel at the King’s Theatre, Edinburgh. She is involved in strategic skills planning and development across Scotland and Edinburgh in her role on the Tourism and Hospitality Skills Group, working to enhance future skills provision and equip graduates with the relevant skills and knowledge for future tourism development.
