We today publish our response to two important initiatives from the City of Edinburgh Council:  the City Plan 2030 and the City Mobility Plan 2030.

Overall we welcome and support the intent and direction of both plans, and call for measures and interventions to be executed in a way that is sensitive to the World Heritage Site. In the City Plan 2030, the emphasis on a higher density of accommodation, walking and active travel, and the establishment of green space in dense urban areas are all welcome, and are consistent with the city’s historic attributes. In the City Mobility Plan 2030, the reduction in traffic, redesigned public transport infrastructure, and improved quality of streets with better accessibility for all people will improve the pedestrian experience and therefore the appreciation and understanding of the site.
