Enter our photography competition celebrating 30 years of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage status.
Residents and visitors are invited to capture what makes Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns special – from iconic skylines and historic streets to architectural details, green spaces and the everyday life of the city.
The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers, using any camera or device. Entries are open until Friday 23 October 2026.

A winning photograph from each category will feature in a 2027 calendar, with proceeds supporting Edinburgh World Heritage. The overall winner will appear on the calendar’s front cover and receive one year’s Historic Scotland membership.
The competition is organised by Edinburgh World Heritage, Historic Environment Scotland and the City of Edinburgh Council, and judged by photographers Tom Duffin and Neil Hanna, alongside The Scotsman’s Arts and Culture Correspondent Jane Bradley.
