James Garden is Professor Emeritus, Clinical Surgery at the University of Edinburgh. He was previously Regius Professor of Clinical Surgery and has held leadership roles in clinical and academic surgery at a local, national and international level.
He established, and continues to support, innovative distance learning masters programmes in the surgical sciences which have been nationally recognised and currently support over 600 training surgeons in some 60 countries.
He has a passion for Edinburgh culture and history. He hopes to ensure that EWH benefits by his putting to good use his academic strengths and experience of working with charities in the medical sector.
